Veterans Day is a festive celebration by those who returned, married, had kids, worked and retired. We are the one who have reunions and share photos and stories.

Veterans Day is a festive celebration by those who returned, married, had kids, worked and retired. We are the one who have reunions and share photos and stories.

Memorial Day is more somber. I think about the 500,000 Confederate war orphans in 1865, and I do not know the count of other wars. I am told that 200 people attend the average wedding and funeral so huge numbers are affected by war. I am told that the number of wounded is close to the number of killed in action so the cost of war is beyond measure. Wars last four to eight years but the memories are for a lifetime.

Conclusion: Someday we will celebrate great negotiators as well as great generals.
