If our "system is broken", it is because our nation's people are broken, with many of them quite ignorant; they elected these people that run the system.
That is my issue with the Fake News, their willful desire to keep people ignorant. I should not be able to win 99% of every debate I find myself engaged in; most I win by default. It there must be Liberals, they need to get a whole lot smarter. |

Usually football teams that are way behind just before the half with only seconds to go, 80 yards away from scoring and one play left will take a knee at the snap so they can go back to the locker room and regroup their game plan.
I suggest that is exactly what the Democrats are doing with this shutdown debacle. They will return to the field with a new strategy in hopes of scoring a few points in the second half.
Having said that, it is becoming increasingly clear to me that neither party understands the problem that the American people have with the whole legislative process of bundling bills together to make laws. I suspect most people would prefer an up or down vote on single issues without all the baggage of non-relevant issues included to please some obscure official whose vote is needed to get over the hump.
If in this next election every current elected official was replaced with someone from the opposite party only the control of congress from R to D would change hands, but not the antiquated system that all incumbents count on to ensure their continued election. I am not in favor of statutory term limits; we have that power ever two years. What we need is a voting public that understands that the game is not to govern but to get re-elected and to vote accordingly.
