    Mrs. Lena Harding Page, age 98, a resident of Washington died Monday, January 15, 2018 at Vidant Inpatient Hospice in Greenville.

    A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, January 19, 2018 at Trinity Episcopal Church of Chocowinity officiated by Rev. Lori Lee Thompson. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. The following will serve as pallbearers will be Joseph A. Taylor, R. J. Martin, Tim MacLachlan, David Jaggers, Ethan MacLachan, Angel MacLachan and Philip Smith.

    Mrs. Page was born in Beaufort County on March 30, 1919 daughter of the late Lacey Walter Harding and the late Katie Lee Barr Harding. She was a 1936 graduate of Chocowinity High School, one of the first graduating classes of that school. She continued her education in the medical field and graduated from Tayloe Hospital Nursing Program in 1940. On August 12, 1940, she married Robert Cotton Page who preceded her in death on November 23, 1990. Using her education, she worked at Tayloe Hospital, Beaufort County Hospital and lastly Dr. Silverthorne's office, for seven years, before retiring in 1985. Mrs. Page was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and the woman's group, Washington Senior Citizens Club and Fun & Fellowship Club of Washington. She was a former member and president of the N.C. Registered Nurses Association District # 8. Following her retirement, she volunteered at Beaufort County Hospital and Eagle's Wings. Mrs. Page enjoyed traveling in her golden years.

    Mrs. Page is survived by two grandchildren: Kathy Taylor and Sherry Whitfield both of Washington; six great grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren; nephew, Ernest Harding Cutler of Blounts Creek; and niece, Mary Frances Peters of Greenville. Mrs. Page was predeceased by a daughter: Jane Page Walden on November 30, 2010; a granddaughter: Roberta Paige C. Jaggers; a sister: Ethel Cutler; and a brother: Orion Wilbur Harding.

    The family will receive friends 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.

    In lieu of flowers the family kindly ask for memorial contributions to be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 332, Chocowinity, NC 27817.
