Rebecca (Becky) Rogister Dickens, age 87, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at The Service League of Greenville Inpatient Hospice in Greenville, NC.

She was the daughter of the late George and Margaret Rogister. She was also predeceased by her brother Thomas Rogister, her sister Dorothy Whitt, and her sister Margaret Strickland. Becky was born and raised in Scotland Neck, NC. She married Percy A. Dickens in 1947; they celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary just 3 days before she passed away.

In 1967 Becky and Percy moved with their four children to Washington, NC, where he became Vice President and General Manager of Tidewater Equipment Company of NC & VA.

Becky always put her family first. Very rarely would you find her sitting down. She was always taking care of her family, organizing, cleaning, and cooking. Her specialties from the kitchen included bran muffins, Brunswick stew, ham and collards, and her family's favorite -- chocolate cake covered with pecans. She was humble and kind and a wonderful wife and mother. Becky enjoyed playing bridge with her friends, caring for their many different pets, living on the Pamlico River, and fishing and boating with her children and grandchildren. Her greatest joy was sharing her life with her husband Percy.

Becky is survived by her husband Percy Dickens, son Marty Dickens (Betty) of Nashville, TN; daughter Roslyn Kiernan (Jim) of Wappinger Falls, NY; son Scotty Dickens (Lynn) of Winston Salem, NC; and daughter Naomi Dickens of Chocowinity, NC. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren: John Dickens (Sherri) of Atlanta; James Dickens (Sara) of Atlanta; Shayna Russo (Chris) of Poughkeepsie, NY; Kyle Kiernan (Lindsay) of Fishkill, NY; Matthew Dickens (Amanda) of Greenville, NC; and Benjamin Dickens (Tracy) of Columbus, OH. She is also survived by twelve great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory, Washington, NC. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
