    Mrs. Daisy May Tatum Carson, age 91, a resident of Pine Crest Road, Bath, died Saturday, March 17, 2018 at her home.

    A Celebration of her Life will be held 7:00 PM Wednesday, March 21, 2018 from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. The family will receive friends following the service.

    Mrs. Carson was born in Short Pump, Virginia on December 29, 1926. She was the daughter of the late John Calhoun Tatum and Daisy Nuckols Tatum. Mrs. Carson was a retired receptionist for her late husband, dentist Dr. John Royal Carson, Jr. She lived in Rocky Mount before she moved to Bath in 2000.

    While living in Rocky Mount, Mrs. Carson was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was an avid sportsperson, who excelled in hunting, fishing and bowling with her family. Mrs. Carson served as Den Mother for her sons' Cub Scout Troop and volunteered at the local soup kitchen and Meals on Wheels.

    After moving to Bath, Mrs. Carson joined Bethany United Methodist Church in Winsteadville. She remained very active in church activities, while volunteering at Pungo District Hospital, teaching exercise classes at the Belhaven Senior Center, and continuing her work with Meals on Wheels. She was an animal lover who's extended family always included her beloved dogs and cats.

    Mrs. Carson is survived by four sons, John R. Carson III (Ann) of Stella, N.C., Douglas Alton Carson (Betsy) of Durham, David Tatum Carson of Bath, Mark Thomas Carson (Sandra) of Bath; six grandchildren, Mark Steven Carson of St. Petersburg, FL, John Randall Carson of Charlotte, Wesley James Carson of High Point, Brian Heath Carson of Boston, MA, David Jason Carson of Carrboro, N.C., Amanda Dale Carson of Richlands, N.C.; and two great-grandchildren, Eva Rae Carson and Brice Alexander Carson.

    In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Carson was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Community Home Care and Hospice, 222 Stewart Drive, Washington, N.C. 27889, Alzheimer's Association, Eastern North Carolina Chapter, 400 Oberlin Road, Suite 220, Raleigh, N.C. 27605, or Betsy Bailey Nelson Animal Control Facility, 3931 Highway 264 East, Washington, N.C. 27889.
