    Mrs. Norma Braswell Carawan, age 87, formerly of Bath, died Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

    A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at St. Clair's Church of Christ officiated by Craig Hagen. Burial will follow in St. Clair's Cemetery.

    Mrs. Carawan was born in Beaufort County on April 23, 1930 daughter of the late Charlie Newberry Braswell and Bessie Ross Braswell.

    Surviving are her two daughters, Norma K. Berry and her significant other, James Woolard of Washington, Retha Berry Jefferson and her significant other, William Cleary of Bath; a son, James Dennis Berry and wife Kathy of Ijamsville, MD; one sister, Evon O'Brien of Virginia Beach, VA; a niece, Evelyn Cutler of Washington; four grandchildren: Nicole Berry Minnick and her husband, Jeremy, Jacqualine Berry and her fiancé, Daniel Erb of Ijamsville, MD, Ashley Jefferson Edwards and her husband Christopher of Bath; Allysen J. Berry and her significant other Michael Smith of Grimesland; two great grandchildren: Addison Minnick and Michael Atticus Smith. Mrs. Carawan was preceded in death by a sister: Lucy B. Page and a brother: George Edison Braswell.

    She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Norwood Berry on December 17, 1997 and her second husband, James Elma Carawan on September 28, 2000.

    The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, March 22, 2018 at St. Clair's Church of Christ.
