News Release:

Greenville, North Carolina     Washington DC lobbyist Scott Dacey has been served with a Cease and Desist Order from lawyers representing the campaign of Congressman Walter Jones for a television ad that was intentionally false and misleading.

The Dacey campaign sent out a press release on Tuesday morning that announced a new TV ad making claims that the Jones campaign had taken over $80,000 "in George Soros backed campaign contributions". In fact, the $80,000 referenced was contributions from individual citizens who did nothing more than use their credit cards as a form of payment.

Unbeknownst to the Jones campaign, the company used to process credit card payments on their website is owned by George Soros.

"This is an insult to the good conservatives who donated to my campaign and to the intelligence of the voters of our area" Congressman Walter Jones stated. "Following that logic, if George Soros owned PayPal, anyone who used that service to contribute would have that money classified as a George Soros contribution".

Possibly more egregious was the revelation that this past Sunday the Dacey campaign had a staffer give a $1 contribution to the Walter Jones campaign through a George Soros website so they could state that Jones had accepted contributions from Soros. The staffer, Ryan Kane, is listed as Dacey's media & digital director and his name actually appears as the contact person at the top of the Dacey press release about the ad.

"To deliberately make a $1 donation to my campaign in an attempt to entrap me has to be the lowest political trick I've ever seen," said Jones. "It is further proof that Scott Dacey will do anything to try to get votes".

Jones concluded by saying "I have faith in the good people of Eastern North Carolina and pray that they see through this outrageous behavior and send a message not only to Scott Dacey, but to all those who continue to engage in this type of behavior that undermines the great Republic in which we live."

Dacey was notified of the Cease and Desist Order on Wednesday afternoon and has yet to respond. Attached is a copy of the order and a screen shot of the transaction made by Scott Dacey's staffer this past Sunday.
