Public Hearing on Ferry Tolls to be Held on Monday | Eastern North Carolina Now

   Public Hearing on ferry tolls to be held on Monday, March 19, 2012 at 7:00 pm Auditorium, Pamlico Community College 5049 Highway 306 South Grantsboro, NC 28529 (in Pamlico County, NC)

    We received this email message Thursday afternoon after many calls to NC DOT:

    I will be conducting the Public Hearing. We will begin at 7 pm with a short presentation immediately followed by public comment portion. We will have speaker sign in sheets as you come in the door. Speakers will be allowed 3 minutes each. We would encourage citizens to start arriving by 6:15 pm to ensure timely sign in and a prompt start time.     Note the warning to come early. Yes, arrive by 6:00 pm on Monday, 3/19/12 to get a seat in the Auditorium at the Pamlico Community College. We expect a large crowd.

    Please attend this Public Hearing if at all possible. This is the only Public Hearing to be held on the issue of the amounts of ferry tolls. Many of you have studied the proposal for tolls on the Pamlico River ferry and the Cherry-Branch-Minnesott Beach ferry.

    Please come and speak to us and to the legislators in Raleigh. There is much to be said about the fallacies of the DOT ferry toll study. If the citizens of Beaufort, Hyde, and Pamlico Counties speak with strong, unified voices on Monday night, we will be heard in Raleigh on Tuesday morning!
