Fake News, Washington DC and Washington NC Are Running Neck to Neck | Eastern North Carolina Now

    I have written a lot and talked a lot about unethical behavior and dishonest behavior by several members of the Board of County Commissioners. In general these guys do business in the back room. The more dishonorable an unethical it is the more they like it. The swamp is their habitat and Fake Frankie Waters, Garry Brinn and Jerry Evans revel in it.

    The board of county commissioners in all counties in North Carolina are bound by the same rules and laws. That is, no one member can bind the Board. It takes a majority sitting in an advertised open meeting to make a decision effective. Individual members and groups of up to three commissioners may talk about issues anywhere and all they want to, but a public vote and debate is required to make anything happen. So we are told.

    There is no better example of secret government and power grabbing to spread false information than what happen this week. A report was given to the Noon Rotary Club at their meeting on Tuesday May 7 by the jail administrator that commissioners had never seen, never agreed to and never asked for. I have read the written report and it is a distorting of the facts and a distortion of Beaufort County polity. There is enough distortion to say the report is a lie. What happened?

    According to information put out by the County Manager, Chairman Jerry Evans, without the approval of the board asked Kathryn Bryant, the jail administrator, to write him a report on how bad conditions are in the jail. Just to say conditions are bad in the jail is a lie. The jail is not a hotel. It is not intended to be. Kathryn Bryan wrote the report and presented it to Jerry Evans. The report was circulated among the RINO (Republican In name Only) and other liberals community who want a new jail. RINO Dot Moat is a member of the Noon Rotary and used her influence to have the report presented at the Tuesday meeting. This report was never seen by the Beaufort County Board of Commissioners but it was circulated among those who want a new jail.

    This sounds a lot like the creation of the fake information that was used against President Trump.

    The first violation of the law came when Jerry Evans used what he thought was his Royal authority to have a report written without the approval of the entire board. State law says the Chairman is only empowered to conduct meetings and declare a state of emergency if the entire board cannot be assembled. This is not the first time this has happened. King Gary Brinn abused his authority when he was chairman inthe same way. So did King Frankie Waters.

    The Manager, Brian Alligood, sent out an email just before the Rotary Club met on Tuesday. He says he did not know about the presentation until just before the meeting. This is probably true but I have trouble believing this dishonest report did not circulate thru the RINO community without him knowing more than he is admitting.

    Here is how is works. The Manager has a duty and an obligation to make sure every commissioner has the same information at about the same time. There are always discussions about whether this or that should come before the full board. During Manager Alligood's tenure we have had three King Chairman, Brinn, Fake Frankie and now Evans. All three have abused their power. The moderator in this process is always the Manager. I know, I have been a commissioner for 23 years. Alligood needs to clean up his act and start doing his job. Kissing up to the chairman is not a good thing.

    Further, all three of these Kings assumed the throne within three years of their election to the board. There is no way they had the seasoning and experience to be chairman. If anybody knows that, Alligood does. Maybe, the back room makes his job easier.

    The noon Rotary has always been a hot bed of liberalism. They were major players in loosing the hospital and recently they carried on an active program to take down Dale Folwell who is trying to rescue medica costs. Frankie Waters was spouting that we could not possibly support Folwell because it would cost Vidant 40 million dollars. Frankie represents his buddies well but he does not represent the tax payers of Beaufort County at all.

    What King Jerry Evans did is unethical and dishonest. He has failed the Beaufort County Board of Commissioners. But, he has learned from two masters, Brinn and Waters. Where is the manager when you really need him?

    The solution to the jail situation is to process prisoner faster thru the courts and not to keep them for these long periods of time without a trial. Every problem we supposedly have will go away if prisoners receive a speedy trial. Eighteen of our eighty or so prisoners have been in jail from six months to two years without a trial. Is this even legal? Building a larger jail will allow us to keep more people longer. All these people know to do is to throw more of your money at their problem.
