    Mr. Arthur Jr. Manning, age 90, a resident of 2865 Fire Department Road, Williamston, died Wednesday afternoon, September 4, 2019 at Vidant Bertie Hospital.

    A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM on Sunday September 8, 2019 at Martin Memorial Gardens, Williamston, officiated by Rev. John Keeter. Gill Matthews, Andy Leggett, Wayne Edmondson, Eddie Brown, Billy Manning and Gary White will serve as pallbearers.

    Mr. Manning was born in Oak City, NC on April 18, 1929, son of the late James Arthur Manning and Annie Watkins Manning. In 1960, he moved to Virginia and later returned to Martin County. He was a carpenter for 55 years and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching sports. He was an avid Duke fan. Mr. Manning was a member of the Buzzard Roost Hunting Club and the Hamilton Gun Club. He was a member of the Believer's Baptist Church in Chesapeake, VA. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

    On November 19, 1960, he married the former Margaret "Annette" Edwards who preceded him in death on March 3, 2015.

    Mr. Manning is survived by his children: Arthur David Manning of Portsmouth, VA, Alvin Timothy Manning and wife Sherry of Portsmouth, VA and Wanda Manning Lilley and husband Joseph of Williamston; his grandchildren: Tiffany Manning, Brittany Winslow, Andrew Manning, Brandon Lilley, Cameron Lilley and Jake Lilley, his great grandchild: Chandler Brady Winslow, sisters: Gladys Matthews of Winterville and Beatrice White of Chesapeake, VA and brother: Rubin Manning of Chesapeake, VA. In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings: Russell Manning, James Roy Manning, Louise Smith, William Earl Manning, Mary Frances Boush and Murray Manning.

    The family will receive friends following the service and other times at the home of his daughter, Wanda Lilley, located at 2865 Fire Department Road, Williamston, NC
