Press Release:

WASHINGTON, D.C.     Today, Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC), a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, introduced Professor Richard E. Myers at his confirmation hearing to serve as a U.S. District Judge for Eastern North Carolina.

    Watch the video HERE.

"It's a privilege to introduce Professor Myers along with Senator Burr today. President Trump has nominated an eminently qualified and principled individual to serve in the Eastern District of North Carolina.

"I first met Professor Myers when he served as the Vice President of the North Carolina Bar Association. Professor, I am pleased to see you here before this Committee today.

"Professor Myers has dedicated his professional career to public service and teaching future lawyers. In 2001 Professor Myers left private practice to become a federal prosecutor.

"He spent three years as a federal prosecutor in the Eastern District of North Carolina-the same jurisdiction he is now nominated to serve as a judge.

"In 2004 he joined the faculty at the University of North Carolina School of Law. I believe teaching the next generation of young lawyers is invaluable. At UNC Professor Myers spends a substantial portion of his time as the coach for the school's National Trial Team and with the Innocence Project.

"I applaud President Trump for nominating Professor Myers. He will be an excellent judge and I will support President Trump and this eminently qualified judicial nominee."
