Mr. Donald Ray Jones, age 75, a resident of Washington, died Monday morning, October 7, 2019 at the home of his daughter.

    Mr. Donald Ray Jones, age 75, a resident of Washington, died Monday morning, October 7, 2019 at the home of his daughter.

    A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM on Wednesday October 9, 2019 at the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery with full military honors.

    Mr. Jones was born in Beaufort County on October 11, 1943, son of the late Carl Hooker Jones and Thelma Kathleen Boyd Jones. He was a 1962 graduate of Washington High School and received an associate degree in carpentry and mechanics from Beaufort County Community College. Mr. Jones served 23 years in the U.S. Air Force and retired as a Master Sergeant. He served as a Park Ranger at Goose Creek State Park for 20 years. Mr. Jones enjoyed gardening, singing and playing the guitar. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and Woodmen of the World.

    He is survived by his daughters: Laurel Jones House and husband Dennis of Washington and Courtney Stoltz Jones of Washington; his brothers: Carl Jones and wife Cathy of Washington, Larry Jones and wife Alta of Washington and Lindsay Jones and wife Sandy of Wake Forest; his grandchildren: Zack House, Cody House, Lauren H. Apple, Hannah Adams, Ethan Asby and Cole Asby and his great grandchildren: Paisley Parker and Owen House. He is also survived by John Wade of Washington and Gary Tetterton of Chocowinity, that were like sons.

    The family will receive friends 1:00 PM prior to the service on Wednesday at Paul Funeral Home and other times at the home of his daughter, Courtney Jones located at 102 Meadow Drive, Washington.
