We Can’t Lose the Childlike Wonder of Christmas | Eastern North Carolina Now

Who doesn't love to see the face of a child light up with the wonder of Christmas?

That enrapturing wonder catches our heart and transports us back to our childhood, when we still believed in the impossible.

Do we have to lose this awesome sense of wonder because we start "adulting"?

    No!

God created us to live in constant amazement and wonder.

When we're close to our Heavenly Father, our mind is blown away by the thought that "all things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made" (John‬ ‭1:3).

When we consider the vast reality of this remarkable truth, we learn to live in wonder of WHO God is.

All the other creatures on earth understand the wonder of their Creator.

The Bible says: "Ask the beasts, and they will teach you; the birds of the heavens, and they will tell you; or the bushes of the earth, and they will teach you; and the fish of the sea will declare to you. Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? In his hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind" (Job‬ ‭12:7-10‬).

Little children understand the wonder of life because they have not been jaded by the world's dim view of reality.

When God is excluded from our basic outlook on life, our life is catastrophically limited by the darkness.

The Bible says that in Jesus is life; "and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in darkness; and the darkness comprehends it not" (John‬ ‭1:4-5‬).

    Darkness steals our wonder.

But when we walk in the light of truth, Creation is unveiled as the majestic representation of the wonder of God and our imagination is swept away.

Each new revelation about the height, depth, length and breadth of God's love for us spins us into new dimensions.

How amazing it is that we could be so completely loved!

God placed the gift of wonder in our hearts when we were just children.

And as we draw close to Him, His magnificence continually multiples it.
