NY Mosque Remains Open for Daily Prayers as Churches All Over America Are Hit With Mandatory Shutdowns | Eastern NC Now

    A mosque in New York continues to be open for daily prayers despite the fact that churches all over the United States are being hit with mandatory shutdowns due to the coronavirus pandemic.

    Despite the fact that a New York executive order bans "non-essential gatherings of individuals of any size for any reason," worshippers at the Mosque of Jesus, Son of Mary in Syracuse, New York are still allowed to gather in the mosque's prayer room for calls to prayer throughout the week.

    "About 10 worshippers in masks are allowed in at a time, though rarely do that many show up. They stand far apart from each other as they follow a prayer leader standing on a plastic-covered prayer rug," reported Syracuse.com.

    However, video shows clearly that worshippers are not standing six feet apart from one another, as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends.

    Irfan Elahi, an asbestos abatement expert who worships at the mosque, explained that local mosque leaders had feared when the outbreak began that Muslims would panic if the mosque was closed to services.

    This is in stark contrast to the way Christians are being treated right now in America. We previously reported that churchgoers in Mississippi were fined $500 just for sitting in their vehicles with their windows closed during a radio broadcast of a church service. We also reported that a county in California even banned singing during church livestreams unless people are in a home.

    Meanwhile, in New York City, Mayor Bill de Blasio has threatened to "permanently" shut down churches and synagogues if they do not comply with the state's shelter-in-place order.

    It must be nice to be Muslim and get a free pass from liberals to break the rules and worship freely during this pandemic. Liberals are always trying to make Muslims the victims, but this just goes to show that they are anything but that. Instead, it is Christians who have found themselves being persecuted in a country that is increasingly run by the PC-obsessed Left.
