South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R) has been under fire for weeks from the media and deranged leftists all over the country for refusing to issue a state lockdown amidst the COVID-19 crisis. That's why the people of South Dakota decided to come together on Monday to show her how grateful they really are for standing strong and refusing to buckle to liberal pressure to close their state.

Video posted to her Twitter feed shows Noem being both surprised and visibly touched by the parade, which was carried out while adhering to social distancing guidelines. The video opens with Noem walking outside as emergency sirens blare from a caravan of vehicles that include firetrucks, a pickup, a stock trailer, construction vehicles, and a concrete truck.

As the vehicles revved their engines and honked their horns, the person holding the camera tells a shocked Noem, "It's a parade for you. Wave to 'em!" Noem then waves over and over as she walks around taking in the scene. She then puts her hand to her mouth, visibly moved by what her citizens are doing for her.

"I am so blessed to serve the people of the great State of South Dakota. You folks made my day!" she tweeted alongside the video.

Noem is among a minority of government leaders in the United States who refused to put the state on lockdown due to COVID-19. "Our Constitution ensures that the citizen's right is protected," Noem explained earlier this month, according to The Daily Wire. "I agree with the role of our government as set forth in our state and in our national Constitution. I took an oath to uphold these constitutions. My role with respect to public safety is something I take very seriously."

"The people themselves are primarily responsible for their safety," she added. "They are the ones that are entrusted with expansive freedoms - they are free to exercise their rights to work, worship, and play - or to stay at home, or to conduct social distancing. The calls to apply a one-size-fits-all approach to this problem in South Dakota is herd mentality, not leadership."

We applaud Noem for standing strong in the face of the liberal lynch mob demanding that she buckle to their demands when they aren't even fully aware of the situation in her state. She is putting the people of South Dakota first and staying strong for them even while she continues to get heat from leftists around the country. We should all be so lucky as to have a governor like Noem.
