The same day, the populist / nationalist right Lega Party of Matteo Salvini, which is leading in the polls, held a march demanding the resignation of the government.

    Although Italy is one of the hardest hit countries in Europe with the virus, statistics show that 96% of the deaths have been of people who had other underlying serious health issues. Meanwhile, it is estimated that one third of Italian businesses will never reopen from the lockdown.
