I just filled my tank 10 minutes ago at River Mart on River Road just east of Washington Park at 1.97 a gallon.

I just filled my tank 10 minutes ago at River Mart on River Road just east of Washington Park at 1.97 a gallon. Most stations have been at 2.15 for serveral days, after Speedway initiated (as they always seem to) the last big price increase. That is 18 cents below the herd per gallon.

Speedway does its best to push prices to the levels of Greenville, which is the high end for eastern North Carolina. Murphy Express and Quality Plus have been the two that have been pushing back, cutting prices and forcing Speedway back down. Others have sort of followed the herd. Speedway has been the big anti-consumer market driver, and Quality Plus and Murphy Express the big pro-consumer market driver. In the last two rounds, it has generally only been Quality Plus as Murphy quit fighting. Now consumers may have a new champion in River Mart

Consumers should avoid buying gas at notorious price raiser Speedway, and patronize places like River Mart and Quality Plus which have pro-consumer records
