    Mr. Ricky Ray Brann, age 73, a resident of Washington, NC died Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital in Washington.

    A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 24, 2020 at Snowd Branch Church of God officiated by Pastor Jerry Andrews. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Jeff Hardee, Eddie Ellison, Ed Dixon, Greg White, Tommy Edwards and Jimmy Simpkins will serve as pallbearers.

    The family will receive friends 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour Friday at the church and other times at the home.

    Ricky was born in Kinston on June 6, 1947, son of the late Fred Lee Brann and the late Mimmie Dora Henderson Brann. He attended Greene County Schools and served his country in the Vietnam War and received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star Medal. After his military service, he worked with Greene and Pitt County Schools in Maintenance. Following his retirement from Pitt County Schools, he was the owner/operator of Riverbank Heat & Air Repair. On October 23, 1997, he married the former Brenda Faye Ball who survives. Ricky loved watching his grandchildren playing ball and sponsored youth teams for many years. He also enjoyed fishing and cutting grass. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge in Snow Hill and a member of Snowd Branch Church of God.

    Surviving along with his wife: Brenda of the home are his children: Eddie Carraway (Teresa) of Winterville, Lorie Wallace (Louis) of Bethel, Terry Grimsley (Mark) of Clarksville, TN, Kim Smith (Jason) of Washington and Larry Ingalls (Stephanie) of Washington; two brothers: Fred Brann (Loraine) of Snow Hill and Jerry Brann (Carol) of Fountain; a sister: Faye Tyndall of Snow Hill; sixteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He was predeceased along with his parents by three brothers: James, Billy and Alex Lee Brann and two sisters: Hilda B. Garrison and Agnus Harris.
