  • N.C. House Representative David Lewis (R-Harnett), an influential figure in the General Assembly and chairman of the powerful House Rules Committee, has resigned effective immediately as reports surface that he faces multiple federal charges.
  • According the Oschner/WBTV, two charges were filed in federal court in Charlotte Thursday, one for making false statements to a bank and the other for not filing a tax return. Now, if those charges, which reports suggest Lewis will plead guilty to, seem a little...weird...it's likely because they represent what's left after a plea deal was arranged in lieu of facing significantly more serious charges.
