Over 6,000 scientists and doctors have signed a statement urging governments to end coronavirus lockdowns as both being ineffective against the virus and harmful to health and well being in other ways. The statement was authored by renowned Oxford University epidemiologist Preofessor Dr. Sunetra Gupta. Top epidemiologists from Harvard and Stanford were among those signing. Over 2600 medical and public health scientists have signed the statement along with over 3500 medical doctors.

"Keeping these lockdown measures in place until a vaccine is available will cause irreparable damage, with the underprivileged disproportionately harmed," the statement declared. "Current lockdown policies are producing devastating effects on short and long-term public health."
