Richard Morgan: Don't Let the Name Fool You

The battle to bring honor to the political parties will never end. That is because of human nature. Need I remind you that just as there are plenty of people who want an easy living gained by taking advantage of their fellow man there are plenty of politicians who are looking for an easy political win.

Richard Morgan, Republican candidate for State Insurance Commissioner, is looking for an easy win. He is running against a very well qualified Republican, Mike Causey. Causey has a career in the insurance industry, is educated as an engineer and knows how to bring competition to the industry. His engineering experience will be of great value in the building inspections division of the State Insurance Commissioners office. Causey has visited Eastern North Carolina many times. We know him. Causey will bring competition to the insurance industry. Competition in health insurance by its self to say nothing of automobile and other casualty will save us hundreds of millions of dollars.

Richard Morgan, elected from Moore County to the House of Representatives, is the same Republican rascal who made the power sharing deal with Jim Black in 2003 when the House was equally divided with 60 Republicans and 60 Democrats. Power sharing under this condition was not necessarily a bad idea, but Morgan along with Michael Decker cut a deal that left the Democrats in charge. Morgan actually cut a deal to help himself at the expense of the Republican Party. Things got so bad with Morgan and Black that the Republican Party organized and went to Moore County in a house to house campaign that ousted Morgan.

Jim Black and Michael Decker were convicted in Federal Court for their activities during the power sharing escapade and both served time in prison. Morgan came away without being implicated. Republicans who served in the House of Representatives were incensed by the treatment they received from the Jim Black/Morgan deals. Morgan actually put the Democrats in control.

Morgan seems to show a lack of comprehension of political character in his statement to the Southern Pines Pilot in a story filed by David Sinclair on February 28, 2012 when he says "This (election) is about identification and name recognition". Morgan became notorious through out the entire State of North Carolina during the two years he shared power with Jim Black. Republicans thoroughly disliked his behavior and felt vindicated when Jim Black and Michael Decker were convicted. If it were only name recognition and political character did not count we could elect Jerry Sandusky, Buggs Bunny and any of the serial killers. Do not let the familiar name "Richard Morgan" fool you when you mark your ballot in the run off election.

I marvel at how someone who is as politically discredited as Richard Morgan got 37 percent of the State wide Republican vote in the primary. Mike Causey got 35.1 percent and James McCall got 27.9 percent. Morgan also did well in Eastern North Carolina. While name recognition is important, it is political character that counts. You now know about Morgan's political character. Vote for Mike Causey.

Early voting begins on June 28 with the election day being July 17th. This will be a low turn out election with only three percent of the voters expected. Please turn out, wear your white hat, and clean up the character of he Republican Party by voting for the good guy, Mike Causey.

My exact sentiments.

If Richard Morgan ends up representing the Republican Party in November, then the RINO sentiment in the GOP will too great for the NC GOP will be able to survive.

Morgan was ''implicated'' in the corruption of the Jim Black / Richard Morgan regime. He just was not ''indicted'' unfortunately, by the federal proseuctors. The prosecutors focused on just the one most outrageous corrupt act, when the whole record of Black-Morgan was a target rich environment if they had decided to dig a bit more.

Morgan was kicked out of the Republican Party by overwhelming vote of the State Executive Committee for his act of treachery in stabbing the House Republican caucus in the back and making a seperate deal with Black which handed Black the real legislative power. Morgan is the only person that procedure has ever been used against.

Morgan does not deserve a vote for dog catcher.
