Who Wears the White Hat During Internal Political Party Gun Fights?

    In other words who is supposed to keep any political party clean of political vermin? The political vermin I am referring is any person or group of people within the party who misuse or intends to misuse the ideals of the political party. The Republican party says its principles are smaller government, individual responsibility and lower taxes. For the sake of not having an argument I will not attempt to say what the Democrat party stands for. Both parties complain about individuals and groups who do not conform to their main stream ideas.

    Each party elects leaders, boards, and provides rules of conduct for their leadership. There are no rules of conduct for the rank and file. These are the people on the street who are registered Democrat or Republican. Party members are free to vote with or against the party or the candidates of the party. This is our free society.

    Those who are totally free from any influence, dictate or coercion can free a political party from the influence of party vermin. Those who are totally free comprise the over whelming majority of the voters within both the Democrat and Republican parties. It follows that the "man on the street", Joe six pack, the average person, the public at large, or you and I will be wearing the white hat and driving the political vermin from the party. This sounds simple but it is very complicated considering the complexities of human nature and the deceptive skills of those who want to use an elected position for their special toy.

    As the Democrat Party has fallen into decline in the South, the Republican party has faced a bums rush of opportunists who view the puritanical beliefs of conservative Republicans as easily manipulated pickings. These opportunists posture themselves and promise in the most reverent terms they have "seen the light", have always been conservative and just need Republicans to help them. Rarely do these leopards get the entire political hide transplant. They paint over their spots long enough to get elected and return to their old ways as soon as they are elected. Name any of these elected converts who have changed to Republican and you will find their voting record to be blemished, if not liberal. Be sure to look at the voting record not what they tell you.

    We now have a situation in the Republican party that requires the white hats to step fore ward and settle. Liberal Democrat, Arthur Williams suddenly decided that he is not only a conservative Republican but attested that he had always been a conservative Republican locked in the body of a liberal Democrat. He wants Republicans to believe that he is free at last. Amazingly he announced that if only he could be elected a Republican he would continue to vote as he always had. He never even offered to recite the principles of the Republican party. Yes, he had the gall to tell us that electing him a Republican would change nothing. This in its self is a strong indication of the lack of political character of Williams.

    Williams announced that he has the support of the big boys in Raleigh. Sure enough he has been endorsed by a few people who should know better. These people fall into two categories. They either have not won an election or they do not vote in the Sixth House District.

    Past behavior is indicative of future behavior. Reputation proves character. During Williams last three years in the House of Representatives ending in 2010 Williams received a conservative rating of F by the Civitas Institute, a conservative oversight group. His conservative grades ranged from 10 to 30 out of a possible 100 points. With grades that low, Williams surprised us again by referring to his already conservative voting record. Williams problem may be political intellect, political reality and political character.

    Williams political skills are limited. He has never debated an opponent and has been known to pay someone to appear at events and speak on his behalf.

    I have just described the kind of elected official the Republican and Democrat party hacks in Raleigh want to see elected. They have few political skills and abilities but they are superb at doing exactly as they are told. That is why the big boys in Raleigh want him. And, that is why the white hats must show up and vote to keep the party clean in the run off election.

    Everything about Mattie Lawson's qualifications are superior to Williams. Lawson is a 35 year Republican. A Tea Party activist. She is trained as an engineer with years of experience working in industry. She is a grandmother who understands that we are over regulated and taxed. She will stand on her own two feet and represent us in Raleigh. Early voting in the run off begins June 27 with the election day being Tuesday July 17th. White hats to the rescue.
