February 10, 1925 – January 24, 2021

Evelyn Miller Hodges Inabinett departed her earthly home for her eternal home on January 24, 2021. She was most loved by her daughter, Chris Thompson (Art); her grandchildren, Michelle Redinger (John), Justin Leggett (Karen), Elizabeth Hodges (Mandy), and Jenna Leissner (Richard); and her great grandchildren, Ashley Redinger, Latham Redinger, Ridge Hodges, Jack Leissner, Mary Walter Leissner, Parker Leggett and Jacob Leggett. She treasured the love of her sister, Janice Miller, her sister in law, Edna Miller, her special nieces and nephews, and her dear cousins. Her abundance of friends were truly a gift in her life. Her children by marriage added more love to her life, Laura Gage (Michael), Mark Inabinett (Christy), and Marian Inabinett; grandchildren Emily Martin (Josh), Matthew Inabinett and Caty Inabinett; great grandchildren, Hayden Martin and Carly Martin. She was preceded in death by her son, Clifton Keith Hodges, who brought her much joy during his life and left a hole in her heart when he passed, and by her brother, Kenneth Miller.

Her family will always cherish how she "Loved us better."

Evelyn was born to the late Ina Hand and Joe Tolbert Miller on February 10, 1925 in Fort Meyers, Florida. She had an adventurous childhood traveling about with family for her father's profession in construction. After attending numerous schools in different cities, her family settled down in Washington, NC where Evelyn graduated high school in 1943. Washington and education never left Evelyn's heart as she started her own family with her late husband, Clifton Hodges. Evelyn raised her two children, Keith and Chris while remaining in the education system as a teaching assistant. Evelyn later married Charles Inabinett and together they shared many happy years prior to his death in 1997.

The most important thing in Evelyn's life was her Lord and Savior. She was a true prayer warrior and felt it a privilege to make prayer calls for others. She left us with many notebooks full of those prayers. Her love of FBC and its members was an example to us all. She served her church in many ways but was most honored to be a deacon. Another major event was a mission trip with her church to Swaziland, Africa when Evelyn was 81 years old. Her love for the Swazi people remained with her forever.

Please read one of her favorite scriptures from Psalm 139 in KJV as you join us in remembering her wonderful legacy.

A graveside memorial service for Evelyn will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 2 pm at Oakdale Cemetery in Washington, NC. The service will be delivered by Dr. Greg Barmer of First Baptist Church, Washington, NC. If you would like to give a gift in her honor please consider making a memorial to The First Baptist Church (Memo: Swaziland Fund) 113 N. Harvey St. Washington, NC 27889.

Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.paulfuneralhome.com

Arrangements are with Paul Funeral Home, 900 John Small Avenue, Washington, NC 27889, 252.946.4144.
