BoCo GOP executive committee calls for School Board to ban CRT | Eastern NC Now

Critical Race Theory is threat to divide our county, state, and nation

ENCNow

The Beaufort County Republican Executive Committee voted unanimously Tuesday night to call upon the Beaufort County Board of Education to ban the teaching of Critical Race Theory in county schools and to reject the radical new state Social Studies curriculum.  The resolution is expected to be presented to the next county school board meeting.

Praising Dr. Martin Luther King's call for people to be judged "on the content of their character instead of the color of their skin", the resolution blasted Critical Race Theory as "an attempt to divide America on racial lines like earlier Marxist theory tried to do on class lines" and pointed out that it was part of so-called Critical Theory developed by Marxist ideologue Herbert Marcuse.

The Republicans praised the seven states that have so far banned teaching of Critical Race Theory and the North Carolina counties that have already either banned teaching of Critical Race Theory or rejected the radical new state Social Studies curriculum.

Forcing the Marxist Critical Theory as envisioned by Herbert Marcuse down the throats of our offspring in government schools is an abomination. I agree it should be taught as an example of Marxist theory. I do not agree that it should be presented in a good light in opposition to our western ideals of freedom. In practice, Critical Theory paints a world of oppressed (good) versus oppressors (evil). Specifically, Critical Race Theory (CRT) divides us all on a racial criteria that is in opposition to equal rights of citizens, Christian teachings, and the goals of leaders such as Martin Luther King.

If the dictates from above as well as some individual teachers in the government school classrooms continue this course, we must remove our young ones from this environment.

What is the stance of Beaufort County Schools?

Isn't the majority of the School Board Republican? They should move forward to stop these threats to our society.
