Gun control is what dictators do, and the Taliban has already started seizing privately owned guns in Afghanistan. Gun ownership is deeply ingrained in the country's culture, but the Taliban wants absolute control. Guns in private hands will also be inconvenient when the Taliban starts its likely mass murder of opponents, real or imagined. They are also going door to door looking for those opponents.

This was the same course on guns pursued by Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Chavez, Castro, and lots of other dictators. It is also a course favored by Biden.
