Mrs. Sallie Palistian Hollowell Brantley, age 89, a resident of Aurora, died Friday, September 10, 2021 at Bayview Nursing and Rehab Center in New Bern.

    Mrs. Sallie Palistian Hollowell Brantley, age 89, a resident of Aurora, died Friday, September 10, 2021 at Bayview Nursing and Rehab Center in New Bern.

    The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Monday, September 13, 2021 at the Aurora United Methodist Church.

    Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM in the church, conducted by Pastor Joe Motley. Burial will follow in Whitehurst Cemetery in Aurora.

    The following will serve as pallbearers: Lloyd Hollowell, Ricky Hollowell, Ben Hollowell, Ken Stilley, Pete Stilley and Al Stilley.

    Mrs. Brantley was born in Aurora on July 15, 1932. She was the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland Hollowell, Sr. and Sallie Palistian Swain. Mrs. Brantley worked for several years at Carolina Telephone. Later, she helped her husband, Keith, run Brantley Service Station in Aurora. Mrs. Brantley was a member of Aurora United Methodist Church and the Ladies' Auxiliary. She and her husband were accomplished bowlers. They participated in bowling tournaments around the country.

    Mrs. Brantley was married to Keith Gordon Brantley, who preceded her in death.

    Mrs. Brantley is survived by her brother, Charles S. Hollowell of Aurora and many nieces and nephews.

    In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Brantley was preceded in death by three sisters, Virginia H. Bennett, Mildred H. Stilley, Alice Mae Hollowell: and five brothers, Grover Cleveland Hollowell, Jr., William A. Hollowell, Nathan S. Hollowell, Benjamin B. Hollowell, and Joseph L. Hollowell.

    The family will receive friends at other times at her home, 289 North 7th Street, Aurora.

    The family would like to thank Miss Essie Davis, her caregiver for her compassionate care.

    Flowers are appreciated or memorials may be made to the Aurora United Methodist Church, Aurora Fire Department or Aurora Rescue Squad.
