Norway's Supreme Court shuts down windfarms over noise | Eastern North Carolina Now

Norway's Supreme Court has cancelled the operating licenses of two wind farms in the Arctic north of the country over excessive noise and its impact on migrating reindeer herders and their herds. The court cited international law as well as Norwegian law to protect the rights of the Sami reindeer herders over the wind farm operators.  The noise, both audible and the infrasound that is not audible adversely impact human health and animals.

The Supreme Courts of Ireland, Australia, and France have already granted relief to neighbors of wind farms adversely impacted by wind turbine noise.  The World Health Organization has also warned of adverse human health impacts from wind turbine noise. The Conservative provincial government of Ontario ordered the largest wind farm there to address the noise complaints of neighbors or the provincial government would shut them down. Germany has seen many wind farm projects blocked by lower courts, which the wind operators dare not appeal to higher courts, over noise issues as well as other adverse impacts to the environment.  A Finnish environmental health study showed that people have to be 10 kilometers away from a wind turbine before the turbine's adverse human health impacts start to diminish.

North Carolina's RINOs in opening our state to massive development of wind and solar in their Green New Deal HB951 and indeed mandating it, did absolutely nothing to protect North Carolina citizens from the adverse impacts of wind farms in their neighborhoods.
