Greece prosecutes migrant ''rescue'' charity for human smuggling | Eastern NC Now

could face 25 years in prison

ENCNow

The Emergency Response Center International (ERCI), which is based in Germany, is like a number of "migrant rescue" charities in Europe that assist illegal aliens to reach Europe, often picking them up at sea and bringing them to a European port.  Many conservative politicians in southern Europe denounce these groups as a "taxi service" that is an accessory to human smuggling.  In Greece, these "charities" have also been accused of spying on the locations of Greek patrol boats and telling the migrants where they are so they can be avoided.

ERCI's operations included assisting migrants from the Middle East to reach Greece's islands off the Turkish coast.  Now, Greece's conservative New Democracy government has arrested 24 employees of ERCI and charged them with a variety of crimes including human smuggling.  Those charges could result in prison terms of 25 years each.  Prosecutors call ERCI a "criminal organization".  The trial began Thursday on the Greek island of Lesbos, which has been severely plagued by illegal immigration.

Why isn't the US prosecuting those who assist the illegal alien caravans that come to the US?  The answer, of course is spelled B-I-D-E-N.
