News Release:

    Good afternoon,

As Joe Biden's signature "Build Back Broke" bill collects dust in the Senate, far-left Democrats are pivoting in a desperate ploy to pass "literally anything" by attempting to eliminate the filibuster. Their top goal? Passing both the Election Suppression Act and the Freedom to "Cheat" Act in a partisan effort to push an extreme federal takeover of elections and end popular , commonsense protections like voter ID.

The Democrats' self-serving pivot is the height of hypocrisy. While Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has tried to spin the maneuver as an effort to restore the Senate's "rightful status as the world's greatest deliberate body," he himself likened ending the filibuster to being a " doomsday for democracy" in 2005.

As recently as 2019, Biden said that killing the filibuster is a " very dangerous thing to do ." Kamala Harris similarly signed onto a letter with 31 other Democrats in 2017 supporting the filibuster - so that the Senate " continues to serve as the world's greatest deliberative body ."

More than three dozen current Senate Democrats have, in fact, voiced opposition to scrapping the filibuster and Senate hopeful Cheri Beasley is falling in lock-step with their outrageous plan to nuke the filibuster.

For more on Democrats' egregious hypocrisy, check out the RNC's latest Research Briefing.

"The Democrats' pivot on the Senate filibuster is more than blatant hypocrisy - it's nakedly partisan subterfuge to ram through a Democrat power grab. Cheri Beasley's willingness to follow the radical Left's hypocritical lead proves that she will do anything to win the favor and funding of Democrats like Chuck Schumer." - RNC Spokeswoman Alex Nolley
