French education official blasted for hypocrisy on Covid restrictions | Eastern NC Now
Macron's Minister of Education issued order while vacationing in Spain
Jean-Michel Blanquer, Minister of Education in President Macron's French government is being blasted by both parents and teachers for what is being called "infernal" new Covid restrictions in schools. To add insult to injury, Blanquer issued the new rules while he was on vacation in Spain, a country that has dropped most of its Covid restrictions and taken the position that Covid should be treated the same way as the flu. So Blanquer was himself enjoying being in a country with a open society while imposing more restrictions on his own. The national teachers union is mulling a strike for Thursday.
"These restrictions have no health, but political basis", said populist-nationalist Presidential candidate Marine LePenn, nominee of the National Rally party. Another candidate called on Blanquer to resign.
