Press Release:

Washington, D.C. - On the Fourth of July, Missouri Congresswoman and outspoken 'Defund the Police' advocate, Cori Bush tweeted:

"When they say that the 4th of July is about American freedom, remember this: the freedom they're referring to is for white people. This land is stolen land and Black people still aren't free."

Three days later, Beasley joined a joint fundraising committee (JFC) called "Lead the Way 2022," cofounded by Rep. Bush. It was her first such fundraising arrangement, a clear attempt to ride the wave of donations brought in by the socialist "Squad" in the U.S. House. The candidates in the JFC are said to champion "bold progressive values" such as "anti-militarization," "economic justice," and "racial and gender justice."

According to a report from the Washington Free Beacon, Cheri Beasley quietly removed herself from this JFC after months and months of being called out by the NRSC for aligning with an anti-American radical like Cori Bush for financial gain.

In the months ahead, Beasley will continue to try to paint herself in a more moderate light as she approaches a general election, but when the chips were down, she allied with one of the most radical members of Congress. Retreating in the dead of night will not erase that action.

Statement from NRSC Spokesman T.W. Arrighi: "Cheri Beasley must think that no one is paying attention to her retreat from Cori Bush. She joined her JFC three days after yet another deeply offensive tweet and stayed aboard through wave after wave of unhinged comments from Bush. Beasley can't represent North Carolina when her first instinct is to align with 'The Squad'."
