On a recent weekend across Germany, there were 1,046 separate protests against government Covid mandates in towns and cities around the country, involving over 188,000 protesters, the largest outpouring of protesters on any subject in the country's history.  According to an article in the major German newspaper Die Welt (The World), "the government is concerned over the decentralized actions, labeling the immensity of the demonstrations 'depressing'".

In Hamburg, the Social Democrat mayor responded by claiming that 95% of Covid cases were among the unvaccinated.  A subsequent Senate investigation said the actual number was 14.3%.

Nonetheless, the national Social Democrat led government plans to open debate on a bill to mandate Covid vaccination next week.
