leader of Canada's Conservatives ousted, replaced by pro-trucker firebrand | Eastern NC Now

Conservative Party of Canada leader Erin O'Toole was already facing a petition for his removal as party leader for veering too far left when he waffled on the Truckers for Freedom convoy.  Now, he has been voted out as party leader and replaced as Interim Leader by his deputy, Candice Bergen, a firebrand who has championed the cause of the truckers on the floor of parliament.  A party convention will select a permanent leader.  Bergen had previously served as interim leader but on that occasion declined to run for the leader's position due to her lack of fluency in French.  Bergen was once photographed wearing a MAGA hat and is known as a staunch supporter of conservative principles.
