Early Voting Begins Thursday, October 18, 2012 | Eastern NC Now

   This general election has been heralded as the most important election in 30 years. I surmise that this is the most important election in exactly 32 years.

    32 years ago, the presidential election of the United States of America was similarly as important as now, when the challenge by conservative Republican Ronald Reagan of the liberal Democrat Jimmy Carter's Administration, evolved into a rather substantial victory by the Republican, and ushered in a renewed belief that America could be great again, and accordingly, under the 8 year reign of one of America's most inspirational presidents, Ronald Reagan, we were. In this election cycle, with American Embassies ablaze abroad, an economy on the ropes, and a president who would rather campaign that effectively govern, and would rather blame others than do the work of a leader, we find ourselves in the same position as we were in 1980 ... probably worse.

    The current president, Barack Hussein Obama, who was swept into the people's office on the coattails of "Hope and Change," and little else, has proven to be the most ineffective president since Jimmy Carter, and that assertion is exceedingly kind. Candidate Obama's administration has become a tenuous foundation of abject socialism, and prefers all government initiatives, excepting the military, over all free market solutions. The United States economy has not, and will not respond to non free market solutions, and this president is now reaping the sorry harvest of his failed economic policy of Socialism whenever applicable.

    Now, as the real malaise gains hold, Real "Change" begins now at the polling place, and sustained "Hope" shall rule the day of a more knowledgeable elected representatives if we all understand the true issues at hand. This is achieved only when we take the opportunity to enjoy our constitutional right to a representative government and that begins at the polls.

   Early voting may be achieved by visiting your local county board of elections here in North Carolina, and, accordingly, here in Beaufort County, one can make their own mark on effecting real "Change" by voting early at the Beaufort County Board of Elections, off Highland Drive behind the county hospital, during normal business hours.
