Chinese Media Leaks Censoring Rules On Ukraine: We’ll Need Russian Support When We ‘Solve Taiwan Issue’ | Eastern North Carolina Now

    A Chinese news organization accidentally leaked its censorship plans regarding Russia's invasion into Ukraine in which the organization said that it needed to be sensitive on the matter because it would need Russia's support when it would wrestle "with America to solve the Taiwan issue once and for all."

    "Horizon News, a subset of Beijing News, which is owned by the Chinese Communist Party, posted 'instructions' on how to cover the escalating tensions to its Weibo page on Tuesday," Business Insider reported. "In the Weibo post, Horizon News stated that any content painting Russia unfavorably would not be published. The same applied to any pro-Western framing."

    "Simply put, China has to back Russia up with emotional and moral support while refraining from treading on the toes of the United States and European Union," Ming Jinwei, a senior editor at the Xinhua News Agency - the official press agency of the Chinese government - wrote in a WeChat blog cited by The Washington Post. "In the future, China will also need Russia's understanding and support when wrestling with America to solve the Taiwan issue once and for all."

    Former President Donald Trump warned during an interview on Tuesday that China was going to take over Taiwan after watching Russia invade Ukraine, something that he said would not have happened on his watch.

    During an appearance on "The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show" at his Mar-a-Lago estate, Trump responded to the latest news about Russia moving forces into separatist regions of Ukraine that Russian President Vladimir Putin recognized as "independent" on Monday. His comments came before Russia launched their full scale invasion into Ukraine.

    "By the way, this never would have happened with us. Had I been in office, not even thinkable. This would never have happened," Trump said. "But [Putin] says, you know, 'I'm gonna declare a big portion of Ukraine independent,' he used the word 'independent,' 'and we're gonna go out and we're gonna go in and we're gonna help keep peace.' You gotta say that's pretty savvy. And you know what the response was from Biden? There was no response. They didn't have one for that. No, it's very sad. Very sad."

    "I think [Putin] sees this opportunity," Trump later added. "I knew that he always wanted Ukraine. I used to talk to him about it. I said, 'You can't do it. You're not gonna do it.' But I could see that he wanted it. I used to ask him. We used to talk about it at length. I think nobody probably knows him better in terms of the discussions that we have or that we're having this morning. So I knew him very well. I got to know him. I got to know President Xi. By the way, China is gonna be next. You know, China is gonna -"

    "You think they're gonna go after Taiwan?" co-host Clay Travis asked.

    "Oh, absolutely," Trump responded. "Not with me, they wouldn't have."

    When asked if China would try to under Biden, Trump responded, "Oh, yeah."

    "They're waiting 'til after the Olympics," Trump said. "Now the Olympics ended, and look at your stopwatch, right? No, he wants that just like... It's almost like twin sisters right here because you have one that wants Taiwan, I think, equally badly. Somebody said, 'Who wants it more?' I think probably equally badly. But, no, Putin would have never done it, and Xi would have never done it. And also, North Korea has not acted up for four years."
