Urkaine's defenders are fighting hard and inflicting heavy losses on the Russian invaders, as the British Defense Ministry says that Putin has failed to achieve any of his first day objectives.  So far, Putin has lost 2,800 soldiers, 80 tanks, and 516 armored vehicles as well as a number of fighter jets and helicopters, according to the UK's Daily Mail.  Ukraine has also inflicted damage on an air base inside Russia with a missile attack.

Russia appears to be working to encircle the Ukraine capital of Kiev / Kyiv to decapitate its government  Elite Russian Spetznatz commandos arriving by helicopter, captured a key Kiev airport, only to be obliterated in a Ukrainian counterattack that recaptured the airport.  Kiev has been under indiscriminate missile attack, hitting civilian as well as military targets.  Army and national guard units are setting up positions to defend the capital in street by street fighting if necessary.  The government is handing out AK-47s to any citizen who wants one to fight the Russians. In Kiev alone, 18,000 Ukrainian civilians have take up AK-47s.  Others are preparing Molotov cocktails.  Among those taking weapons to join the fight to save their country were several wealthy politicians including Ukraine's immediate past president, Poroshenko, a wealthy industrialist,  Kiev's mayor, who is a former heavyweight boxing champion said to be worth $50 million, and many members of parliament from a variety of political parties.

There are numerous accounts of bravery like a 13 man unit on a Black Sea island whose surrender was demanded by a Russian warship.  They replied "F--- yourself" and were then wiped out by the warship's guns.  Or a Marine engineer who set charges on a key bridge to block the Russian advance from Crimea, and after setting the charges realized he did not have enough time to get off the bridge himself, so he told his comrades good bye by radio and blew up both the bridge and himself.  In doing so he caused a major obstacle for the Russians and allowed his unit to position themselves better to block the advance.

With Ukrainians prepared for street to street or house to house fighting, there is no way Fuhrer Putin will avoid A LOT of body bags going back to Russia. And tanks are sitting ducks in that type of fighting. The Ukrainians have got 'nads. Hooray for them!
