All U.S. Army personnel will be forced to undergo training on how to deal with gender pronouns for service members who want to change their gender identification while they serve, and a training slideshow uses language such as "assigned male at birth" and "assigned female at birth."

An Army spokesman confirmed to The Washington Free Beacon that the slideshow was real. In one example from the slideshow, a soldier "assigned male at birth" decides he is a woman. The slide states that the "soldier lives as a female during his off-duty hours. He has no medical diagnosis, does not plan to seek medical treatment, and does not experience significant distress relating to his gender identity."

In another example, a soldier "assigned female at birth" decides she is a man.

An Army spokesman told The Free Beacon, "We remain committed to treating all soldiers with dignity and respect while ensuring good order and discipline. Soldiers who meet those standards can serve openly in their self-identified gender."

Dakota Wood, who served in the Marine Corps and now works at the Heritage Foundation, told The Washington Free Beacon:

A telling phrase in the presentation-'assigned (male or female) at birth'-reveals that whoever developed the presentation material, and the policy being implemented, accepts the argument that gender is an artificial construct rather than a biological reality. This is a highly controversial argument promoted by the progressive left and rejected by the conservative right.

"Using such examples to illustrate instances where Army leaders need to treat a soldier in one way or another highlights the types of social policies being imposed on the military services," he continued. "There are a great many people in the military, arguably the vast majority, who do not agree with this manufactured construct."

Forcing soldiers "to accept the premise-that one can choose their gender and therefore change how they are to be treated-creates frictions within organizations that are dependent on unity and cohesion to be successful in combat," he concluded.

In May 2021, Rep. Dan Crenshaw, who served five tours overseas serving his country, losing an eye to an IED blast in Afghanistan, took note that the new "woke" recruitment videos released by the U.S. Army had precipitated so much criticism that comments on the videos on YouTube were shut down. He fired, "I hope the message to military leadership is clear: We aren't going to stand by as our military becomes another institution crippled by woke political correctness. No more critical race theory, no more identity politics, no more political witch hunts. We've had enough."

The Washington Times reported, "The Army earlier this week acknowledged that it has cut off the comments section on the videos. Laura DeFrancisco, a spokeswoman for the Army Enterprise Marketing Office, said the decision was made after a 'significant uptick in negative commentary' in the comments section of the spots."
