Another huge court victory for local people against wind farm operator | Eastern North Carolina Now

Supreme Court orders total wind farm shutdown over noise of wind turbines and aggravated damages

ENCNow

Local residents in South Gippsland, Australia have won a huge legal victory in the Supreme Court of the Australian state of Victoria over the Bald Hills Wind Farm.  The court ruled that the noise from the wind turbines constituted a nuisance to local residents and entered injunctive relief ordering a total shutdown of the Bald Hills wind farm.  They also ordered the wind farm to pay aggravated damages to the local residents.

This follows a trend of courts ruling against wind farms due to noise, infrasound, flicker effect and other harm to residents living around them.  Supreme Courts in Ireland and Norway have also ordered shutdowns of wind farms for similar reasons, as has a trial court in France.

In Ontario, Canada, the new Conservative provincial government took action directly by ordering the largest wind farm in the province to mitigate the noise problems there or the provincial government would act to shut them down.

Thanks to governor Cooper and legislative RINOs Phil Berger and Tim Moore pushing Green New Deal HB951 through the legislature, these wind farm noise problems are likely to be facing North Carolinians in the coming years.  With "Republicans" like Berger and Moore, who needs Democrats?
