BREAKING: Pelosi Tests Positive For Coronavirus Day After Attending Event With Biden | Eastern NC Now

    House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has tested positive for COVID-19, an announcement that comes the day after she attended an event at the White House with Democrat President Joe Biden.

    "After testing negative this week, Speaker Pelosi received a positive test result for COVID-19 and is currently asymptomatic," Drew Hammill, Pelosi's deputy chief of staff, tweeted.

    Fox News White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrichs responded to the news by noting, "Pelosi was on stage, unmasked with POTUS yesterday at the postal service reform act bill signing - inches away from him."

    "The Speaker is fully vaccinated and boosted, and is thankful for the robust protection the vaccine has provided," Hammill said. "The Speaker will quarantine consistent with CDC guidance, and encourages everyone to get vaccinated, boosted and test regularly.'

    Hammill later added, "A planned Congressional delegation to Asia, led by @SpeakerPelosi , will be postponed to a later date."

    Axios noted that other top Democrats - including Attorney General Merrick Garland, Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, and Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) - have tested positive for coronavirus after they attended the Gridiron Club dinner.
