John Tedesco Must be the Man | Eastern North Carolina Now

John Tedesco is a ‘lightening rod” of new ideas charged by his conviction that that he can improve the North Carolina school system. And I think he can do it. It isn’t that June Atkinson has been a bad state Superintendent; John Tedesco just might be a better one. We all know that our school system needs all the help it can get, so let’s give Mr. Tedesco a shot at improving our schools. June Atkinson has been a fixture within the Raleigh education bureaucracy since 1979. She has been the state Superintendent for the past 8 years, but the bond formed as a teacher with the teachers unions seems to tilt toward the teachers at the expense of the children. Mr. Tedesco will put children first while at the same time working to make sure that the teachers receive the support that they need.

Ms. Atkinson promotes forced busing at the expense of neighborhood schools. Diversity in education is a lofty goal that liberals continue to espouse long after the results prove that it has a negative affect on children and neighborhoods. Our schools should not be laboratories for social experiments. They should be institutions of learning that does not include social indoctrination of liberal ideas of a social utopia. An utopia that exists not in the real world, but within the minds of a small circle of liberal elites who control our educational system. Alarm bells should be ringing loudly each year as we watch our national education test scores decline within the global community, but we are so wedded to our current education system that few hear them. If June Atkinson hears the bells, she is ignoring them. The bells are ringing in John Tedesco’s ears every day, and he is charged up and ready to meet the challenge and give our kids the education that they deserve. If you haven’t voted yet, please vote for John Tedesco.
