‘It’s Time To Die’: 4th Grade Survivor Of Texas School Shooting Recalls Horror | Eastern North Carolina Now

    A fourth grade boy who hid under a table during the horrific shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas has come forth to recount the bone-chilling events as the shooter targeted the boy's class and teachers.

    The suspect entered the classroom and locked the door, trapping the fourth-grade students and their teachers.

    "He shot the next person's door," the boy told Kens5. "We have a door in the middle. He opened it. He came in and he crouched a little bit and he said, he said, 'It's time to die.'"

    The boy joined four other children hiding under a table covered with a tablecloth.

    "When I heard the shooting through the door, I told my friend to hide under something so he won't find us," he said. "I was hiding hard. And I was telling my friend to not talk because he is going to hear us."

    The boy said that the two murdered teachers, Irma Garcia and Eva Mireles, tried to protect the children. "They were nice teachers. They went in front of my classmates to help, to save them." he said.

    "When the cops came, the cop said: 'Yell if you need help!'" the boy recalled. "And one of the persons in my class said 'help.' The guy overheard and he came in and shot her."

    "The cop barged into that classroom," he continued. "The guy shot at the cop. And the cops started shooting."

    The boy said that after the shooting stopped, "I just opened the curtain. And I just put my hand out. I got out with my friend. I knew it was police. I saw the armor and the shield."

    "I would like to say to every kid and parent to be safe," the boy concluded.

    Texas GOP Governor Greg Abbott responded to the tragedy, asserting, "Texans across the state are grieving for the victims of this senseless crime and for the community of Uvalde. Cecilia and I mourn this horrific loss and we urge all Texans to come together to show our unwavering support to all who are suffering."

    "We thank the courageous first responders who worked to finally secure Robb Elementary School," he added. "I have instructed the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Rangers to work with local law enforcement to fully investigate this crime. The Texas Division of Emergency Management is charged with providing local officials all resources necessary to respond to this tragedy as the State of Texas works to ensure the community has what it needs to heal."
