Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a larceny that occurred at a mulch business on Hwy 102 in Vanceboro, NC. The victim reported a large metal hopper and an electronic metering device were stolen. The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation, collected evidence, and conducted interviews. During the investigation, the metal hopper was recovered and returned to the victim.

    On January 10, 2013, the Sheriff’s Office received a report of three subjects attempting to sell a large metal hopper at a recycling business on Highway 17 in Vanceboro, NC. Deputies from the Patrol Division responded to the business and detained the suspects. Investigators determined the metal hopper was stolen from the same location of the larceny reported on December 26th. Investigators obtained a search warrant and executed it at a residence on Harding Street in Chocowinity. An electronic scale stolen from the business was recovered from the residence.

    On January 10, 2013, Investigator Wesley Waters arrested Seth Ray Simpkins, age 21, of Harding Street in Chocowinity, Charles Justin Bauer, age 18, of Pollard Road in Chocowinity, and Robert Wayne Smith, Jr., age 22, of Highway 33 West in Chocowinity. They were charged with one(1) count each of Felony Larceny and one(1) count of Attempted Obtaining Property by False Pretenses. They were held in the Beaufort County Detention Center on $10,000.00 secured bonds set by Magistrate David Curtis. The investigation into the larceny reported on December 26, 2012 is ongoing and more charges are expected.

This week, the North Carolina Sheriffs’ Association hosted sheriffs, sheriffs’ personnel and their families for their Annual Business Conference.
On July 17th, 2026, members of the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested 38-year-old Tyshawn Laron Mann of Englehard NC for drug trafficking and other drug related offenses.
On July 6, 2026, Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office along with members of the NC SBI Criminal Apprehension Team located and apprehended 39-year-old Leslie Michael Kitchengs in the Long Acre Area.
On April 17, 2026 Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff Office received information that 37-year-old Clinton Alexander Daniel of Chocowinity NC had strangled his 4-year-old son.
On Monday, April 13, 2026, the Beaufort County Grand Jury returned a True Bill of Indictment against 24-year-old Brady O’Neil Daniels of Wallace, NC, charging him with the murder of Billy Joe Bell in 2023.
On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call in a wooded area near Pamlico Plantation in Washington NC.
In the past month, Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Patrol and K9 Division have arrested 10 people in the county on felony drug charges.
On December 12, 2025, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested 27-year-old Nikkopenia Terra Echevarria of Washington, NC on multiple felony drug charges.
Beaufort County District Attorney Thomas D. Anglim disclosed that Ryan Austin Stalls was convicted of two counts attempted murder and one count of attempted first degree ex offense and first-degree kidnapping following a guilty plea in Beaufort County on December 9, 2025.

On December 22, 2025, Deputies from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the Aurora/Richlands area for a report of a foul odor coming from inside a rental property where a tenant had previously moved out.
On December 5, 2025, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested 39-year-old, Arnold Gerard Whitney of Belhaven, NC on multiple drug and weapon charges.
On Tuesday December 9th, 2025, 33-year-old Ryan Austin Stalls pled guilty in Beaufort County Superior Court to the following charges:

On January 27, 2025 Washington Police Department officers and Washington Fire/Rescue personnel responded to the area of Bonner Street and E. Martin Luther King Jr. Street in reference to a report of a motor vehicle crash.
During the past month, members from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit, Patrol Division and K9 Unit have charged seven people in the county on felony drug charges.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office needs your help locating a wanted person. On October 27, 2025, 40-year-old Givon Montrell Hodges of Washington, NC left Superior Court in Beaufort County and failed to return.
On April 25, 2024, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jaleza Aneice Alexander on multiple drug charges.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received reports of multiple vehicle break-ins between December 6 th and December 9 th in the areas of Turkey Trot Rd., South Asbury Church Rd. and Magnolia School Rd. in Washington.
