Why did Beaufort County adopt Bernie Sanders free college for all plan? | Eastern NC Now

also supported by AOC and The Squad in the House

ENCNow

For years, admitted Socialist Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) has been pushing a "free college for all" plan of eliminating college tuition, and actually introduced such a bill in the Senate, not once but twice, in 2017 and 2021.  Republicans opposed it there, and the bill never went anywhere.  Radical Representative Alexandria Occasio-Cortez, better known as AOC, and leader of the far left "Squad" sponsored a companion bill in the House in 2021.  The Democrats even put the concept in their national party platform.  Avowed socialist Bernie Sanders is the godfather of this proposal.

So why did the nominally Republican Beaufort County Commission vote 5 to 2 to implement free college for all at Beaufort County Community College that is exactly what Bernie Sanders and AOC want to do nationally?  Even worse, this is a four year plan,  which people are going to believe they are entitled to after that much time.  And it costs our county taxpayers $4 million that could have been used to reduce taxes.

It is important to know where this socialist plan originated (probably BCCC) and how it ended up in the budget.  Who pushed it at the county government level?  Who is our main Bernie Sanders?  This also tells us that the leadership at BCCC is way off in left field ideologically.

The bottom line is that we have three "Bernie Sanders Republicans" who voted for it, Frankie Waters, John Rebholz, and Randy Walker.  The two Democrats on the board are lefties and their support would be a given, but we have three "Republicans" on the board who are to the left of even some of the worst RINOs in Washington, DC.

Republican voters need to vote out Bernie Sanders Republican Frankie Waters this November.  The other two do not come up until 2024.

Thank you Commissioners Deatherage and Richardson, who voted against this Bernie Sanders plan.

Any time any part of govt. says something is free, you better grab your wallets as it is going to cost you big time in higher taxes.

This is indeed Bernie Sanders socialist plan implemented in Beaufort County. We knew Frankie Waters was a spendthrift. He always has been with the taxpayers' money. But to embrace Bernie Sanders' socialism is a new low for him. I am very surprised and shocked however at Randy Walker voting for this Sander's socialism. I had expected better from him.

The only two commissioners willing to stand up against Bernie Sanders socialism appear to be Stan Deatherage and Hood Richardson. They called this scheme out for what it is, socialism.
