Florida activates National Guard to interdict boat migrants | Eastern NC Now
also using aircraft and fish and wildlife boats to find and stop them
Florida Governor Ron deSantis has called out the Florida National Guard to deal with the latest incursions of boat migrants into his state. Florida is also deploying state aircraft and Fish and Wildlife boats to locate and interdict migrant boats.
Under federal immigration law, Cuban migrants have special rules, called wet foot / dry foot which say that if a Cuban is able to reach land before he is apprehended, he is allowed to stay but if he is apprehended before he gets to land he can be sent back. Most of this wave of boat migrants are from Cuba.
