Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is set to get new committee positions, marking a comeback after the House voted in the last session of Congress to remove her assignments over a series of inflammatory statements.

The House GOP Steering Committee voted on Tuesday to give Greene a seat on the House Homeland Security Committee, which has oversight of the Homeland Security Department, as well as on the powerful House Oversight Committee, according to The Hill.

The GOP steering panel of around 30 members also elected to return Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ), who was censured and lost his committee assignments over a controversial video he shared on social media, to his former perch on the House Natural Resources Committee and Oversight Committee.

These assignments still need to be approved by the entire House GOP conference. CNN's Melanie Zanona stressed the conference typically approves steering committee recommendations. If confirmed to the Oversight Committee, Greene and Gosar will join Chairman James Comer (R-KY), who has begun inquiries in various controversies surrounding President Joe Biden.

The last session of Congress was Greene's freshman term. She quickly established herself as a conservative firebrand and staunch ally of former President Donald Trump.

In February 2021, the Democrat-led House voted to strip Greene of her assignments on the Budget Committee and the Committee on Education and Labor over statements that preceded her time in Congress regarding such things as QAnon and school shootings. Eleven Republicans joined with Democrats in voting to pass the resolution.

"These were words of the past, and these things do not represent me, they do not represent my district, and they do not represent my values," Greene said right before the vote.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) released a statement at the time condemning Democrats for making a "partisan power grab regarding the committee assignments of the other party," but he also said he condemned Greene's past comments and met with the congresswoman to make it "clear" where the House Republican Conference stood in the matter.

As time passed, McCarthy said Greene and Gosar would be given new committee seats if Republicans won back the house in the 2022 midterm elections. In the weeks leading up to the vote for speaker, Greene emerged as a supporter of McCarthy in his quest for the gavel. "I've asked for committee positions, but I'm not doing it with a guaranteed deal," she told Axios.

The Daily Wire reached out to Greene's office for comment on her new assignments.

As Greene and Gosar are poised to make a return to committee roles, McCarthy has indicated he plans to make good on a promise to bump three high-profile Democrats - Reps. Adam Schiff (CA), Eric Swalwell (CA), and Ilhan Omar (MN) - from perches on key committees.

Considering how abjectly corrupt and civilly abusive the Left has become regarding the corrosive effect of their elected leaders; their entrenched and ruling bureaucracy; employing their failed Education Industry as Indoctrinators; their collusive private sector operators, such as the terminally discredited Legacy Media and Big Tech censorship of Free Speech: What will be the best course forward for hardworking Middle Americans, including the Patriot Class?
