McConnell starts purging conservatives from Senate committees | Eastern NC Now
Is "China Mitch" channelling Beijing's interests or Biden's?
Recalling the days of John Boehner purging conservatives, including our own Walter Jones from House committees, "China Mitch" McConnell is now doing the same in the US Senate. He has removed conservative Senators Rick Scott and Mike Lee from the powerful Commerce Committee. Scott, once CEO of a major coroptation probably has more business experience than anyone who has ever served in the Senate, but McConnell is more interested in monkey business.
Scott and Lee are senators who have warned against the influence of China, while McConnell is himself part of that influence, due to the extemsive financial ties of his wife's family business to China. That shipping business is closely enthwined with the Chinese government.
Scott and Lee are also senators that have consistently opposed Biden's big spending bills, including the horrible omnibus, while McConnell has developed a reputation as a Biden Republican by supporting most of them. Biden and McConnell held a joint political rally in Kentucky last month.
Scott also challenged McConnell for his leadership position and Lee was one of the conservatives who supported that challenge.
Will we see this play out on other committees as well?
