Tillis Co-Introduces Legislation to Keep Title 42 In Place Until Border is Secure | Eastern North Carolina Now

Press Release:

WASHINGTON, D.C.     U.S. Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) recently co-introduced the Public Health and Border Security Act, legislation that would require all COVID-related national states of emergency to be lifted before Title 42 is officially terminated and require the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to put in place a workable plan to manage the chaos at the border.

"Illegal crossings at our Southern border continue to be at unsustainable levels, contributing to the ongoing humanitarian and security crisis, while the Biden Administration continues to turn a blind eye," said Senator Tillis. "I am proud to work with my colleagues on this commonsense bill to prevent the Biden Administration from making the border crisis even worse."

The Public Health and Border Security Act would:

  • Require all COVID-19 related national states of emergency be lifted before Title 42 is officially terminated; and
  • Require that a workable plan is provided by DHS before Title 42 is lifted to secure the border.
