The Washington Examiner reports:
North Carolina’s Mark Robinson expected to announce gubernatorial campaign in April
Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson (R-NC) is widely expected to announce a campaign for governor next month, boosting Republican hopes of recapturing North Carolina’s governor mansion.
Robinson’s team teased a “major rally and announcement” on April 22 located at Alamance County’s Ace Speedway, which emerged as a key flashpoint during the pandemic for permitting races without social distancing or masks in May 2020. The event is expected to serve as his campaign launch.
Having been seen as a rising star in the Old North State, Robinson has long dropped hints of his intentions to vie for governor. Incumbent Gov. Roy Cooper (D-NC) is term-limited and therefore cannot run for reelection.
Should he run and win, Robinson will become the first black governor in the state’s history. His political ambitions caught fire after a video of testimony he gave about firearms went viral in 2018, a year before he announced his lieutenant governor campaign. At the time of the viral testimony, Robinson was a factory worker.

Buzz, I don't think any of the potential GOP candidates for governor is a lawyer. Dale Folwell is a CPA. Mark Robinson worked in private business. Mark Walker is a pastor. Even Tillis worked in private business.

We need workers and not lawyers.

I was a big fan of Mark Robinson when he ran for his current office. He is a first rate orator and hit all the right conservative notes. He started off great on the education issues, but he stopped, not even attending state school board meetings for months. A governor's appointees are key to his success. They are what made Jim Martin a great governor and Pat McCrory a poor one. Robinson has a rather small staff as Lt. Governor but his appointments there have been less than impressive. Most importantly, Robinson was asleep at the switch when RINOs pushed major left wing legislation including the Obamacare Medicaid expansion and the NC Green New Deal through the legislature. A group of conservative energy experts actually met with Robinson on contesting the Green New Deal but Robinson refused to get involved. Dale Folwell, on the other hand has shown as State Treasurer that he knows how to properly staff government with competent conservatives and he knows how to use the levers of power to push conservative policy. Talk is great with Robinson but it is Folwell who shows he can actually push conservative policy successfully.

YES!!!! I pray he runs for Governor. That would be wonderful. He would definitely be a great Governor.

Republicans are almost certain to have a choice of two conservatives in the primary for Governor, Lt. Governor Mark Robinson and State Treasurer Dale Folwell. Robinson probably has better candidate skills but Folwell has much better governing skills. There are rumblings that RINO Senator Thom Tillis is also eying the primary for governor, as well as former Congressman Mark Walker.
