CBS re-opens wounds of Vietnam War | Eastern North Carolina Now

CBS, which I take to mean the Communist Broadcasting System, has torn open the almost healed wounds of an almost forgotten war.

Publisher's Note: This article originally appeared in the Beaufort Observer.

CBS, which I take to mean the Communist Broadcasting System, has torn open the almost healed wounds of an almost forgotten war. But then all during that time in our country's history that network openly used their position in public broadcasting to express their views against our involvement. Dan Rather, in the field with GI's, gave his version of what was happening which not always matched reality. Walter Cronkite, the "most trusted" news anchor, said after the Tet Offensive which we won by the way, that the war was lost and we should get out now.

Contrast that to previous CBS news reporters like Edward R. Murrow or Andy Rooney, who actually flew combat missions on B-17's of the 8th AF. What ever happen to change a great lady that informed the world to a whore who sold herself to the far left pimps?

That wreckage that was made into the "monument" shown on the show the Great Race was the last B-52 shot down during Operation Linebacker II, also known by the media as the "Christmas Bombing Campaign" although no missions were flown on Christmas Day.

We lost 58,264 souls to satisfy a President and Secretary of Defense who fought the war from the White House and overrode the decisions of the commanders in the field. Linebacker II was planned and orchestrated by Generals 10,000 miles away in Omaha, Nebraska. Fifteen B-52s were shot down by over 1000 Surface-to-Air Missiles (SAMs). Of the 92 B-52 crew members involved in the losses, 33 died, 34 were captured and 26 were rescued. I was one of the latter. On the positive side it did bring the war to a close and got the release of over 500 POWs.

News is now "made" by those who sit in the corporate offices and decide what is news and what is not, depending on the dictates of those in political office. Prime time programming is planned on what the far left thinks is important, Gays, Lesbians, casual sex, men are stupid, etc.

I'll stick to the History channel and the Food Network.

A couple of us, here at BCN, grew up during the Vietnam War.

I, fortunately had a suitable draft number to not be conscripted during the last two years of that awful war, and Wyatt flew Spads off the USS Ticonderoga.

George is so right about CBS now and CBS then. Cronkite was a hero to the "doves" and they made him an iconic figure. The truth is something altogether different from that whole "Uncle Walter," "Most Trusted Man in America" crap.

Thanks for reminding us George.
