The trial balloon over Thom Tillis trying to move into the govenor's mansion from DC seems to have deflated. The 3 to 1 vote by NCGOP state convention delegates to censure Tillis for his leftwing ways ripped an irrepairable hole in it, but it was already deflating from the 53 counties and several districts that had already passed similar resolutions of censure this year, including Beaufort County.
Now, Tillis' handler, RINO consultant Paul Shumaker, who was also RINO Senator Richard Burr's handler, and the guy behind RINO Pat McCrory's run for Senate, has come up with a new candidate. He is pushing RINO Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler. Troxler had alluded to possibly running for something different in his speech at the recent NCGOP convention.
Troxler's candidacy stuck in the craw of many loyal NC Republicans when he first ran for Agriculture Commissioner. The reason was that Troxler had been state chairman of "Farmers for John Edwards" when slick liberal Democrat personal injury lawyer Edwards ran against incumbent conservative Republican US Senator Lauch Faircloth. The fact that Faircloth's own background before he was a senator was in agriculture, made this a particularly brazen move by Troxler.
A "Republican" who can back liberal Democrats seems a perfect fit for a snake like Shumaker. He is right in line with other Shumaker candidates like Tillis, Burr, and McCrory. But it is not what the grassroots Republican activists and voters want. We do not need another Thom Tillis sitting in the governor's mansion or as our nominee for such.
And Shumaker? He is one of the two RINO consultants caught by Civitas taking very large sums of money from national far left environmental activist organizations to promote the far left green agenda in the NC General Assembly, a process that gave us North Carolina's Green New Deal, HB951. To any conservative, Shumaker's association with a campaign should be the kiss of death.
Troxler has also been questionable on gun rights issues which is a huge contrast with frontrunner Mark Robinson, who gained fame originally with support of gun rights.

Steve Troxler is in bed with the illegal alien crowd, due to his relationships with big farmers who exploit them. He is VERY bad news on illegal immigration issues, not at all something we want as a governor. Indeed, while Josh Stein is terrible on immigration issues, Steve Troxler is even worse. We need to stop either one from becoming governor. Troxler is exactly the sort of guy you would expect the Tillis crowd to push, as he is so like Tillis. NEVER TROXLER. NEVER TILLIS.
Folwell and Robinson are good on immigration issues, and Walker okay, but Troxler is just unacceptable. |
|
WE have a rock star for the taxpayers in Dale Folwell who we need to get behind. Mark Robinson at least says the right things on tax and spend issues, although he has not been in an office that gives him an actual record on those things like Folwell. Why in the world would we want someone who is not solid on tax and spend issues like Troxler?
I did not know about the Farmers for John Edwards history of Troxler. Now that I do, I will withhold my vote for Troxler for any office. A John Edwards "Republican" pushed by a Tillis "Republican" is not what we need! |
|
I was never thrilled with Troxler as Ag Commissioner, but I am definitely repelled by the idea of this political opportunist as governor, and the Shumaker connection just makes it that much more toxic. If Troxler is the nominee, I need to find out more about the Libertairan candidate. No can do Troxler as governor! Troxler and Stein are equally bad news.

I have never seen Troxler advocate for any conservative positions, but I do know that he is clearly on the left side of gun rights and immigration issues. I have heard a few of his speechs and he does not talk conservative issues. Then there is Shumaker, who has deep ties to the far left on at least some policy issues, who is the one trying to get him into the race and undoubtedly would be the power behind the throne if Troxler got in.
We have some good conservative choices for governor that we can trust, but Troxler is not one of them. The problem is that the RINO legislative leadership has rammed through an absurd 30% threshhold to win the primary, and with a divided conservative vote, we could get stuck with a worm like Tillis or Troxler as our nominee. We can blame Tim Moore and Phil Berger for that scam, which is intended to help incumbents, but it can be a huge problem with a multi-candidate primary.
